Spring

As the season moves forward the air is warming, sunshine is more abundant, and the many signs of spring are appearing.  Among the early arrivals is the Red Winged Blackbird, showing up in early spring to begin the search for nesting partners.  I love their song wafting across the open water at Watkins Lake where I captured this first image a couple of years ago.

Last week I was fortunate to capture a pair of Wood Ducks resting high in the tree across from our house.  I don’t believe they are nesting here, but more likely resting during their migration back from down south.

Over the last couple of weeks we’ve experienced some wonderful April showers and fairly warm days which have caused the early spring flowers to pop.  At least until last night’s hard frost!  The result has been a spring of beauty and I was able to get out into the yard to capture a few images of the spring flowers, especially while still wet from the rain.

Among them are the daffodil, flowering pear tree, and the Box Elder tree flowers.  But probably the most spectacular are the groups of Serviceberry trees Kathleen planted around the property.  They obviously appreciated the mild winter because their blooms have been outstanding this year – can’t wait for the fruit to ripen!  The next just waiting for a few warmer nights to pop open are the crab apple trees with pink, red, and white blossoms we inherited with the property.

I hope you enjoyed this little tour of spring as much as I enjoyed getting out to capture the images.  If you enjoyed this Journal entry, please drop me a comment below, feel free to share with your friends, and visit my website Terrance Alexander Photography.
